Nutritional Deficiencies

Americans are consuming more and more food, so more nutrients… right?

NO.

Should we even be talking about nutritional deficiencies?

YES.

Nutrient deficiencies happen when our bodies do not receive an adequate amount of a specific vitamin or nutrient. This can be caused by a specific diet, food limitations or food scarcity, digestive issues, or even not enough sun exposure. Chances are you are deficient in one or more of these nutrients. Common nutrition deficiencies include:

  • Vitamin D

  • Iron

  • Potassium

  • Vitamin B12

  • Folate

  • Magnesium

So, next time you are choosing a food option → read the label and choose an option with one or more of these nutrients.

Also, don’t forget to ask your doctor to check your nutrition levels.
